In 2019, Microsoft introduced the feature of managing Android notifications from Windows computers. From then on, notifications on Android phones would go directly to computers running Windows 10 or 11, and even the entire SMS history would be viewed along with pending notifications.
There is also the advantage of replying to a message coming directly from the computer to the Android phone or writing a new text message. Formerly known as Your Phone in Windows, Microsoft has rebranded this feature as Phone Link.
Lets find out how to connect your Android phone with Windows PC
On Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers, you can check the Android phone notifications from the computer using the Phone Link app. For those who have a habit of using phone and computer at the same time, this feature will come in handy. Let's find out how to set up the Phone Link app.
If you search on a computer running Windows 10 or Windows 11, you will get the Phone Link app. If the app is not already installed, install it from the Microsoft Store. You can also search the app from the Microsoft Store to find out if the app is updated to the latest version. If the app update is pending, update the app first.
After downloading the app, open the app and click on Get Started option. Then login to Microsoft account. If you do not already have a Microsoft account, open a new account, it will be useful to link the phone and PC.
Then it is time to set up the mobile app. Follow the instructions given on the computer and install the Phone Link app on your Android phone.
You can also find and install the app by searching directly in the Play Store. If you have a Surface Duo or a certain Samsung device, you may already have the Phone Link app installed on your phone.
Once the app is installed, return to the computer. Now check the check box next to “I have the Link to Windows app” and click on the Pair with QR code option. Then you will see a QR code on the screen, which will link the phone and computer.
Let's come back to the phone. Mark the checkbox next to the “QR code on your PC is ready” option on the phone and tap on the “Continue” option. If you want "take pictures and record video" permission on your mobile then allow it. After scanning the QR code displayed on the computer by the phone's camera, the phone and PC will be connected.
Then Allow the various permissions displayed on the phone. If connected, battery life may be affected. You will see a notice, tap Continue. Then you will be asked to check your computer and you will see on the computer that the mobile and computer have been successfully connected.
Now come back to the computer. You will be welcomed to the app on the computer. If you use Windows 11 , you will also be asked to pin the app in the taskbar. Then you can get various benefits from the app, such as: viewing notifications, sending text messages, viewing photos or making calls, etc. you will see on the PC screen.
So far, your computer and mobile will be linked, but if you want to see the notification of the phone on the computer, there is some small work left.
If you are still in the opening screen, you can click on the See my notifications option. If it goes directly to the main screen of the Phone Link app, click on the Notifications option in the left-hand menu and then grant permission to the Notification Sync feature. The issue of notification access will then be confirmed.

You can also view and reply to text messages in the Phone Link app. Phone pictures can be viewed, even calls can be made from the computer.
