Let’s begin In the Name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The
Most Merciful.
1.INTRODUCTION
Science believes that the universe (the sun, the moon, the
stars, the galaxy and even the human being never had a beginning. There is an
endless cycle of birth, life and death
that constantly repeats itself, which never began and will never end.
Is this belief true? Is there any origin of the universe?
What is the fate of the universe?
Scientists have found many evidences. Let’s see what they have found and what the Holy Qur’an says about it.
2.Conceptualizing the ideas
2.1. Big Bang: what?
Big bang is the universe's early development, the event that
led to the formation of the universe.
2.2. Science: What?
Refers to the observation, identification, experimental investigation and theoretical explanation of
natural phenomena.
2.3. Quran: What?
Qur’an is the words of Allah onto prophet Muhammad (SM) through
Zibrayil to guide the mankind.
3.Big Bang in Science and Qur’an
3.1. Big Bang in Science
3.1.1.History
Ancient theory of Big Bang
ü Universe model was infinite
ü Existed forever and will last forever
ü Has no ending or beginning
Classical Theory of Big Bang
Georges Lemaître
first suggested the big bang theory in the 1920s, when he theorized that the
universe began from a single primordial atom. The idea received from Edwin
Hubble's, observing that galaxies are speeding away from us in all directions.
This theory says,
ü The universe has a beginning
ü Came to existence from nothing
ü Not static
ü Undergoing constant movement
ü Changing and expanding
3.1.2. Formation of Universe
ü The Big Bang
ü The expansion
ü The early hot state (The gaseous cloud)
ü The formation of light elements
ü The formation of galaxies
ü The Big Bang crunch
3.1.2.1. Formation and movement of galaxies
Formation |
Movement |
Galaxies are
typical formation throughout the universe. The milky way galaxy hosts our
solar system. There are approximately 100 billion other stars in the galaxy
similar to our sun. Astronomers have found everything in the galaxy was in
the form of huge gaseous matter in the first few minutes after the Big Bang. |
Yes, galaxies
do move. They both rotate and move
through space. According to
Big Bang, planets (including Earth)
rotate around the sun also orbits the centre
of the Milky Way galaxy maintaining a distance from one another. This
rotation maintains the cycle of day and night. |
3.1.3. Big Bang evidences
ü Universal expansion according to Hubble’s law.
ü Abundance of elements.
ü Thermal spectrum of cosmic microwave background radiation.
ü Primordial gas cloud.
ü Speed of light
ü Stellar formation and distance.
ü Galactic evolution and distribution.
ü Consistency.
3.1.4.Expansion of Universe
The expansion of the
universe is the increase in distance between any two
given gravitationally unbound parts of the observable universe
with time.
In 1929 astronomer Edwin Hubble
discovered that the Universe isn’t static but is in fact expanding.
The space itself expanded faster than the speed of light. During this
period, the universe doubled in size at least 90 times, going from subatomic-sized
to golf-ball-sized almost instantaneously.
3.1.5.Big Bang Crunch (reverse big bang)
The Big Bang Crunch explains how the universe will end.
OK…Enough Science‼ Now lets see what the Qur’an says about that…
3.2. Big Bang in Qur’an
3.2.1. Formation of Universe
“Do the disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth
were one mass, and We tore them apart? And We made from water every living
thing. Will they not believe?”(Qur’an 21:31)
Following this big explosion, Allah
“………..turned to sky while it was smoke and said to it and to
the earth, "Come [into being], willingly or by compulsion." They
said, "We have come willingly.“( Qur’an 41: 11)
3.2.2. Movement of Galaxies
The Quran states that, Allah created the sun the moon, and
the planets, with their individual orbit.
“And He (is) The One Who created the night and the daytime,
and the sun and the moon, each swimming in an orbit.”
3.2.3. Expansion of Universe
And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the
preparer. (Qur’an:51:48)
And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We
are [its] expander. (Quran:51:47)
3.2.4. Big Crunch
The Quran speaks …
In a verse talking about the ultimate fate of the universe,
Allah says:
“The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a
[written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat
it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.” [21:104]
3.3. Similarities and Dissimilarities
3.3.1. Similarities
ü Both
Qur’an and science agreed that, everything was messed up in a single point,
then was separated.
ü Both
agrees on, everything in the sky was initially in the form of huge cloud or
gas.
ü Both
agrees on the movement of galaxies.
ü Both
stated about the big crunch.
3.3.2. Dissimilarity
There are no big
dissimilarities in science and Qur’an about big bang.
• Science
named the formation of universe as big bang, but Qur’an didn’t.
• Quran
said about the big crunch saying, “we will recreate it”. Science thinks its a
new universe.
• After
all, science still don't believe in creationism.
4.Conclusion
Everything
happens on the earth have been explained in the Quran thousand years ago. Quran
is a revelation that contain a lot of knowledge that have been proven its truth
and in accordance with the new found modern technology. Although Quran did not
explain in detail on how the universe was created, but we must believe that Allah
is the creator of all. The westerns admit the truth in Quran. There are no
books that can fight the truth of revelation in Quran.
